Arsenal target linked with move to Spurs

So the Luis Suarez saga rumbles on. Will he sign? Won’t he sign? Will Arsenal make another offer? Will Liverpool accept it? Whatever happens – it promises to be one of the most debated topics amongst Arsenal fans for many years – and last night the journey took another twist as the Metro reported that should Gareth Bale leave for Real Madrid – Tottenham will look to make a move for Suarez.

Now first things first – Suarez wants to go to a Champions league club. Tottenham aren’t one. Simple logic would dictate that in this situation it would make more sense for Suarez to bite the bullet and stay put.

The story in the Metro is also written speculatively. There is no evidence in there to suggest that there is any truth in the story whatsoever. If Spurs sell Bale they will have more money (obviously) and the story simply suggests that Spurs will be able to afford him – and that is pretty much the end of that. It’s a story about nothing.

Personally, I really want it to be true and before you shout at me – let me explain my slightly bizarre and twisted logic as to why. Although he is unquestionablably a talented player – he is a complete and utter liability and in general -very dislikeable . I as much as anyone want Arsenal to smash the piggy bank hidden underneath the Emirates – but I dont want it to be for Suarez. I dont even think that signing a forward should be a priority (as Arseblog points out here). Arsenal should be improving the squad but it shouldn’t be through compromise.  Spurs signing Suarez would help me dislike them more. It would also be like Spurs pressing a self destruct button (and  I LOVE the thought of that). But none of that matters anyway - because Suarez won’t be signing for Spurs

Update…..

In answer to a couple of comments – I dont think that Suarez is the difference between Spurs getting 4th and Arsenal ending up 5th next season. Arsenal WILL be in the Champions League places. Spurs wont be (and yes – you can quote me on that).
